Metro works: Henry Street closure and overnight work on Great North Road
By Andrew Beeston · Five Dock · 8 October 2026
Work on the Five Dock Metro station is moving into its next stage. Gamuda, the builder, is now preparing for the main station structure, with tower cranes to go up at both the western and eastern sites.
Two things to know this month:
Henry Street: part of Henry Street, between East Street and Great North Road, will be closed from 10am to 3pm on Friday 9 October for surveying and digging to find underground services (Tuesday 13 October if the weather intervenes). A detour will be signposted. Residents and businesses keep vehicle access from East Street, and the footpath stays open.
Great North Road, overnight: site offices are being delivered and lifted into the western site between 7pm and 7am on Thursday 15 and Thursday 22 October (Thursday 29 October is the back-up night). Expect lane and footpath closures and some noise while trucks unload.
Normal construction hours are 7am to 6pm weekdays and 8am to 6pm Saturdays. The station is due to open in 2032.
