Where to park in Five Dock
Last checked 16 October 2026
The short answer
Most streets around the Five Dock town centre have timed parking of 1 to 4 hours, and the Waterview Street car park has 2 hours free. Residents in the permit areas can get a parking permit from the City of Canada Bay. Always check the signs, as limits vary street by street.
Parking around Great North Road is timed, and the limits changed in 2024. Here's a guide, but the signs on the street always have the final say.
Free parking in the town centre
The council car park at 3-7 Waterview Street has 2 hours free. The City of Canada Bay has committed to keeping the free 2-hour spaces while the Waterview Street and Kings Road car parks are redeveloped.
Street parking limits
The City of Canada Bay lengthened the limits on several streets in September 2024:
- Waterview Street, Sutton Street and Park Road went from 2 hours to 4 hours.
- West Street, East Street and Rodd Road went from 2 hours to 3 hours.
- Parts of Rodd Road, Barnstaple Road and Second Avenue went from 30 minutes to 1 hour.
A change from 30 minutes to 1 hour on Great North Road needed Transport for NSW approval, so check the signs there.
Resident parking permits
The permit parking scheme around the town centre started in November 2023. If you live in a permit area you can apply to the City of Canada Bay for a resident permit, which lets you park past the time limit in your area. Visitor permits are free, and extra resident permits cost up to $85.50 in 2026-27.
The council is consulting on two new permit areas (Areas 6 and 7). Check the City of Canada Bay's website to see whether your street is included.
Before you park
Limits, hours and permit areas vary street by street and can change, so always read the signs.
